A CAMEO ROLE IN “JUANA C. (THE MOVIE)”
Althea Vega will also be seen in another star-studded film “Juana Change The Movie” starring Mae Paner in a comedic film that tackles the socio-political landscape of the Philippines. The film also stars Niño Muhlach, Joel Torre, Ronnie Lazaro, Malu Sevilla and John James Uy. The film is directed by Jade Castro and produced by Raymond Lee.

“METRO MANILA” WON IN SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL
“METRO MANILA” brought home a big accolade for winning the Audience Award for World Dramatic Competition Film at the recently concluded Sundance Film Festival 2013 last January.

In more great news, “METRO MANILA” will premiere in the U.K. as part of the SUNDANCE UK FILM FESTIVAL this coming April 25-28, 2013.

“Metro Manila” selected for competition at the Sundance Film Festival 2013
Althea Vega’s METRO MANILA, a feature length film directed by Oscar® and BAFTA nominated filmmaker Sean Ellis has been selected for the World Dramatic Competition at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
This is a huge feat for all cast and crew of “Metro Manila” as Sundance is considered as one of the top film festivals around the world.

Althea Vega in ‘EDSA XXX” musical film
FLAMENCO “LUNA ROJA”
Althea Vega will be performing in LUNA ROJA, a Flamenco Recital presented by “Fundacion Centro Flamenco” on December 1, 2012 at 8pm in RCBC Plaza, Makati.

FLURRY OF FILMS
Gaining more momentum in her film career, Althea Vega has recently finished filming three films in the last two months and a lot of film projects are in the pipeline. Mostly the film offers are coming from truly reputable industry veterans, which only affirm Althea’s talent as an actress is getting noticed by respected and acclaim people in the film business.
Let’s take a quick look at the recent films that Althea has done so far in the past few months…
Althea Vega was in Corregidor where “EDSA XXX: Ganito Kami Noon, Ganito Pa Rin Kami Ngayon” was filmed. In the movie, Althea got to sing and dance in this musical directed by Khavn de la Cruz. What makes it more interesting is that she got to act three different characters and donned colorful costumes that were psychedelic and sometimes down-right wacky.
“EDSA XXX” is one of the films in this year’s Cinema One Originals 2012. Festival proper will start this coming November 29.

ANGEL AQUINO and ALTHEA VEGA in “ASTRAY”
Steeping in higher grounds acting-wise, Althea Vega has acted alongside award-winning actress Angel Aquino in the film “ASTRAY” directed by Nerissa Picadizo. Althea and Angel are the two leads in the said film where they delved into roles that they both haven’t played before.

Reuniting with director Gil Portes, Althea Vega is part of the star-studded film “BAYANG MAGILIW” . Actors in this vehicle are Wendell Ramos, G Toengi, Jackie Lou Blanco, Sue Prado, Alvin Fortuna Lloyd Samartino and Rob Sy. It is interesting to note that this is the first film where Althea has acted opposite another esteemed actor Sue Prado.

BACK ON-STAGE
Last October 8, 2012 Althea Vega returned on theater in “JOB”, a biblical adaptation on the life of Job. In which Althea portrayed Elima, Job’s wife. The play boost of thespians such as Jao Mapa, Jordan Castillo and the well-respected indie actor Mr. Amante Pulido.
UPCOMING FILMS
Althea has finished principal photography for the shortfilm “MAKINA” by King Palisoc. The said film is a part of a trilogy; other actors of the project are Gabe Mercado, Mely Soriano, Bombi Plata and Kalila Aquiloz.
She has also been selected to be a part of the coming Cinema One Originals 2012 film “EDSA XXX” by Khavn de la Cruz; starring Epy Quizon, Sheree and Bong Cabrera.

TWO NEW FILMS IN CINEMALAYA 2012
Althea Vega has two new films in 2012 Cinemalaya Film Festival.
“ANG KATIWALA” by Aloy Adlawan in which Dennis Trillo plays the lead role. Other cast include Ronnie Lazaro, Neri Naig, Miggs Cuaderno, Ernesto R. Zarate and Angelina Kanapi.
The other film is “DIABLO” by award-winning indie filmmaker Mes De Guzman. The project is also comprised of a talented cast namely Ama Quiambao, Arnold Reyes, Roeder Camañag and Carlo Aquino.

Catch Althea Vega sashaying her flamenco prowess on PTV Channel 4, June 17 (Sunday) from 10pm to 11pm. She’ll be performing together with one of her mentors, Señor Juan Antonio Delos Reyes, a professional flamenco dancer from Spain.
